A handover ceremony was held at the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) between outgoing President Ebubekir Şahin and incoming President Mehmet Daniş.

Ebubekir Şahin, who served as RTÜK President for four terms, handed over the position to the new President, Mehmet Daniş.

The ceremony held at the RTÜK Conference Hall was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Dr. Batuhan Mumcu, Çanakkale AK Party MP Ayhan Gider, 24th Term Çanakkale AK Party MP İsmail Kaşdemir, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Term Osmaniye AK Party MP Durdu Mehmet Kastal, Supreme Council Vice President Orhan Karadaş, Supreme Council Members Hasan Davulcu, İlhan Taşcı, Dr. Necdet İpekyüz, Çanakkale Gelibolu Mayor Ali Kamil Soyuak, Yenice Mayor Veysel Acar, Karabiga Mayor Ahmet Elbi, RTÜK Vice Presidents Deniz Güler and Dr. Feyzullah Tecirli, department heads, vice department heads, council staff, and fellow citizens from Çanakkale.

The New Era of President Mehmet Daniş Begins

Mehmet Daniş, who has served as a member of the Supreme Council since 2021, highlighted the goals of digital transformation in the media, social responsibility, and the preservation of institutional memory in his speech at the ceremony. Daniş said, "RTÜK is a well-established council that values both the technical and human dimensions of broadcasting. We will do our part, together with our fellow Supreme Council Members and colleagues, to raise the standards we have received from you even higher."

In his speech, Mehmet Daniş thanked former President Ebubekir Şahin and RTÜK employees, saying, "Partings are also part of love. What remains is to leave a pleasant echo in this dome, and you have left that pleasant echo. The door and heart of this place will always be open to you."

RTÜK Goes Down in History as the Most Dynamic Council of the Turkish Century

In his assessment upon handing over his duties, Şahin said, “RTÜK has gone down in history as the most dynamic and hardest-working institution among the councils in the Turkey Century. You can be proud of our work. I am delighted to hand over this duty to someone who will continue the same ideals. We are entrusting you with an invaluable President.”

Holding a final meeting with unit managers before the handover ceremony, Şahin thanked the employees and expressed his pride in handing over his duties. Emphasizing RTÜK's strong position in the media field, Şahin expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out together and said, “Being sent off with smiling eyes is invaluable.”

A New Era at RTÜK

The change in leadership is seen as the beginning of a new era in media and broadcasting policy. The family-oriented broadcasting, value-centered oversight, and digital media awareness vision established during Şahin's tenure are expected to be further strengthened in the new era with the experience of Mehmet Daniş.
