RTÜK and Serbian Electronic Media Regulatory Authority Signed a Cooperation Protocol
RTÜK and the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority of Serbia (REM) have signed a Cooperation Protocol to encourage better collaboration between the media sectors. The aim of this cooperation protocol is to strengthen communication, experience sharing, and mutual support in media regulation and supervision processes.
On July 20, 2023, a delegation consisting of REM representatives, including the President of the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority of Serbia, Olivera Zekic, the Executive Director Rajka Galin Certic, the Senior Legal Advisor for International Cooperation Milan Todorovic, and the International Relations Coordinator Jelena Kolo Jovanovic, visited the Radio and Television Supreme Council of Türkiye (RTÜK) to sign the cooperation protocol.
The RTÜK delegation, led by RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, RTÜK Members İlhan Taşcı and Tuncay Keser, Head of Publıc Opinion, Broadcast Research and Measurement Department Deniz Güler, Deputy Head of International Relations Department Yusuf Demirtaş and Experts M. Salih Karabulut and Candaş Aynagöz. Expert Aynagöz made a presentation giving information about RTÜK to the REM delegation before the protocol.
Olivera Zekic, the President of the Electronic Media Regulatory Authority of Serbia, expressed excitement about the protocol, stating that its primary purpose is to facilitate stronger and more effective collaboration between the media sectors. Through mutual communication, experience sharing, and support, they aim to enhance media regulation and supervision processes, learn from each other, and work together to advance and improve their respective media industries.
The protocol aims to strengthen communication, experience sharing, and mutual support between the two regulatory bodies to achieve more effective collaboration in media regulation and supervision. The RTÜK President emphasized the significance of the protocol for fostering stronger cooperation between the two countries' media sectors and promoting effective collaboration in media regulation and supervision processes.
Within the scope of this collaboration, they will focus on areas such as sharing experience and knowledge in regulation and supervision processes, broadcasting ethics, and standards. Additionally, they will provide consultancy and support regarding media regulations and laws to achieve more effective regulations. The protocol establishes various mechanisms, including mutual visits, working groups, expert exchanges, and joint projects, to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of this cooperation.
Furthermore, the protocol emphasizes the importance of education and knowledge sharing. They plan to organize joint training programs and seminars, develop common projects in media law and regulation, and collaborate in combating unauthorized and harmful content to ensure that media remains a platform aligned with societal values and safety.
The RTÜK President thanked those involved in making this valuable cooperation protocol a reality and expressed confidence that it will open new horizons for the media sector and further strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
