Historic Media Cooperation between RTÜK and Malaysian Communications Commission
Strategic partnership in the media sector strengthens as Türkiye and Malaysia celebrated the 60th anniversary of their friendship.
Türkiye and Malaysia made a wide stride in honor of the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. During his official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held discussions on deepening bilateral relations and international issues. The visit aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two countries and enhance cooperation. This historic moment once again highlighted the deep-rooted friendship and shared history between the two nations.
In his statement, President Erdoğan emphasized that the bonds of friendship between the Turkish and Malay peoples date back centuries. He stated that while establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, both nations draw strength from their rich histories and follow in the footsteps of their ancestors.
During a ceremony held at the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office, attended by President Erdoğan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar İbrahim, 11 new agreements were signed between the two countries. Following one-on-one and delegation-level meetings, the leaders proceeded with the signing ceremony. Among these agreements was a letter of intent in the field of audiovisual media services between the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The letter of intent was signed by RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin and MCMC Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Bin Fateh Din.
RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin stated “Under the high auspices of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and in the presence of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar İbrahim, we have signed the Protocol of Cooperation in the field of Audiovisual Media Services between our Supreme Council and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission together with MCMC Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Bin Fateh Din. We will continue to strengthen our cooperation in media, broadcasting services and technical matters between the two brotherly countries. I would like to extend my gratitude to our President and all those who contributed to making this valuable cooperation a reality and I hope it will be auspicious.”
Mr. Şahin emphasized that this agreement will play a crucial role strengthening legal foundation of media cooperation between the two countries. These agreements aim to further enhance mutual collaboration between Türkiye and Malaysia while deepening cultural, economic and technological ties between their peoples.
