European Audiovisual Observatory
European Audiovisual Observatory was founded in December, 1992 as a result of a common initiative of the Council of Europe, EU Commission and the 33 European States which had composed the “Audio-visual EUREKA” that long lasted as the most outstanding professional organisation in the audio-visual sector in Europe,. The main purpose of the Observatory is to ensure the visibility of film, TV, video/DVD, Video-on-demand, new media markets by means of the data to be provided by the European Countries themselves through stimulating the exchange of information in the European continent and to provide information services to the experts of the audio-visual sector. The activities of the Observatory assist the efforts of the Council of Europe on the field of media. Therefore, the Observatory is in a close relation-ship with the Media Department of the Council of Europe and Euroimages. The 51st Administrative Committee meeting of the Observatory will be held in Rome in June, 2014.
