Duties, Powers and Responsibilities
a) To monitor, evaluate, and regularly report the broadcast services of media service providers in terms of their compliance with international agreements to which the Republic of Turkey is a party, Law No. 6112, regulations issued based on this law, and other relevant laws. To propose the application of legal sanctions to the Supreme Council when a violation is detected.
b) To coordinate with the Licensing and Allocations Department regarding the findings of violations related to the use of logos and call signs by media service providers, and to present them to the Supreme Council.
c) To coordinate with the viewer representatives within media service providers, and provide information to the Supreme Council when necessary. To coordinate the infrastructure of the viewer representative system with the Information Technologies Department.
d) To monitor the use of the protective symbol system within the framework of the established principles, to propose the application of sanctions to the Supreme Council in case of a violation, and to coordinate the infrastructure of the system with the Information Technologies Department.
e) To make copies of broadcast records requested by individuals and legal entities under Law No. 6112 and provide them for a fee.
f) To monitor and evaluate the broadcasts of media service providers during election periods, in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Election Council, and to report the results to the Supreme Council.
g) To propose alternative programs to the President of the Supreme Council for programs whose broadcasts have been suspended by the Supreme Council, and to supervise the proper publication of warnings and program suspension penalties issued by the Supreme Council to media service providers.
h) To propose the application of sanctions to the Supreme Council in accordance with the third paragraph of Article 29 of Law No. 6112, if a violation of international agreements or the provisions of Law No. 6112 is detected in any broadcast watched in Turkey by media service providers under the jurisdiction of another country.
i) To carry out the procedures related to public service announcements requested to be broadcast under the fifth paragraph of Article 10 of Law No. 6112.
j) To examine viewer/listener complaints delivered to the Supreme Council through various means and evaluate these complaints in terms of broadcasting principles.
k) To carry out other duties assigned by the Supreme Council and the President of the Supreme Council.
