RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin Made a Speech at the 5th Conference on the Cultural Informatics, Communication, and Media Studies
RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, who took part as an invited speaker at the conference, stated that he graduated from the faculty of communication and added that the faculties of communication have an important place for him and that they do not hold him back from being a faculty nationalist. Mentioning that there are projects of RTÜK for communication faculties and their students, Şahin said that they would continue organizing the 'RTÜK University Meetings', to which they had to give a break due to the pandemic.
Stating that he is also satisfied with the work of communication academics, Şahin said, “I think that our communication teachers, who aim to enrich the field, shed light on the media field with similar studies such as the conference we are holding now. I would like to thank all our academicians who have contributed and all our students who participated in our online congress. In this distinguished meeting that I opened, issues such as cultural informatics, radio, cinema, advertising, public relations, political communication, digital media literacy, social media, and ethics are discussed. As an institution, we are spending hard and intense efforts on these issues, which coincide with the work area of RTÜK.
Expressing that RTÜK organizes events under the titles such as “the International Symposium on Media and Islamophobia”, “the Workshop on Combating Disinformation in the Audio-Visual Media”, “the Workshop on Media and Family Values”, “the Digital Media Literacy and Turkish Language workshops” where they discuss the problems of the sector, Şahin said that such scientific congresses offer important opportunities and that the studies carried out guide the sector. Emphasizing that RTÜK has some expectations from academicians Şahin said, “We demand that they implement projects that will guide the policies and practices of our institution and ended his speech by saying “We will continue to support master's and doctoral theses, research articles, and projects, and all other scientific studies in this direction within our capabilities. I highly think that the studies to be put forward here are very important for both our institution and the future vision of the sector.”
