KPI visit to RTUK
The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) delegation has visited the Radio and Television Supreme Council.
KPI Members Hardly Stefano, Nuning Rodiyah with Analyst Sinar Ria Belawati, Minister Counsellor, Dionnisius E.Swasono and Third Clerk Raditya Aji Wisnumurti has realised a working visit to RTUK Vice Presidents Ibrahim Uslu, Orhan Özdemir and RTUK Member Taha Yucel.
During the visit, the "Digital Recording, Archive and Analysis System (SKAAS)" system, which enables the recording, archiving and analysis of national, regional and local television broadcasts and national radio broadcasts made in satellite, cable and terrestrial environment throughout the country, the future of digital broadcasting, monitoring of internet broadcasts, and the measurement of monitoring/listening were thoroughly discussed.
The members of the delegation required information about how RTÜK is monitoring internet broadcasting. The members of the delegation were very satisfied with the exchange of ideas and the benefits they received from the experience of the Supreme Council in this field. Hardly Stefano, the head of the delegation, stresses that the exchange of ideas and experience from this visit is very important and extensive due to the fact that currently they are also working on a new law.
In this context, the roadmap and experience of the Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council in this process regarding the inclusion of international organizations such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in the scope of monitoring has been explained to the Committee.
The importance of acting cooperatively with Muslim countries with regional powers like Indonesia and Turkey, against the programs known to contain content that will harmfully affect the development of young people and minors in particular was emphasized.
The relevant information about how RTUK oversees these organizations within the scope of the Regulation on the presentation of Radio, Television and On-Demand Broadcasts from the Internet was also conveyed to the Indonesian delegation. Following the presentation, the Indonesian Delegation has inquired of many questions about internet broadcasting.
The Delegation was given detailed information about the media literacy course conducted with Ministry of Education as well as the studies conducted by RTUK in this field was explained.
The Delegation carefully listened to these studies with interest and stated that this model can also be applied in their own country.
The Indonesian Delegation also visited the "Digital Recording, Archive and Analysis System (SKAAS)" system so as to observe how publications are recorded and stored. The Delegation mentioned that the system is very functional after receiving technical information about the operation of the system, The Delegation has also visited the rating measurement room and been given a presentation about RTUK's studies on rating measurement. By reason of preparing new legislation, the Indonesian Delegation was informed of the relevant issues.
In consequence of the negotiations, the Indonesian Delegation declared that the meeting was very beneficial and valuable adding that RTUK will inspire Indonesian Delegation on many issues regarding the new legislation. It was also mentioned that when they return to Indonesia, information received from this visit will be shared with their colleagues and will also be taken into account in the process of the new law. Thanking RTUK for its hospitality, the delegation left the building after the contacts.
